Got water questions? County may have answers

If you have water questions regarding a private well, a private water source, or a community dependent on non-municipal supplies, Tulare County officials may have information to help.

Second District Supervisor Pete Vander Poel represents the southwest portion of Tulare County and represents the Board of Supervisors on the Tulare County Water Commission.

In a recent video message online, he said,"I'm here today to talk to you a little bit about water seeing is that the state is in another year of record drought. The topic of water has become a real hot issue. 

"Whether you are on a private well or private water source, or you are in a community, you have various water concerns. And we at the county have resources available to you. Resources ranging from the state water resources control board, uh, to your community services, district, public utilities, district being able to seek assistance and emergency grant funding from the department of water resources. "

He said Self-Help Enterprises is the one-stop shop for help with water.  

By utilizing Self-Help’s online system, you can now access their online intake form for a faster way to get connected to resources within Tulare County. Some of the resources available include household tanks, hauled water, well repair assistance, and a bottled water program. Additionally, there are programs available to address community water shortages. These include emergency repairs and bottled water delivery through the State Water Resources Control Board funding as well as the Small Community Drought Assistance Program through the Department of Water Resources.
